God, shave the Queen.

I am happy (and vindicated) to see Queen and Freddie enjoying their much needed re-introduction to the world, especially now during America’s Modern Medieval period. I have ALWAYS been a fan and can tell you pretty much when and where I was when I first heard each song in the Queen catalog. It is quite literally the soundtrack to my life.

Although I have now seen Queen three times (once with Paul Rogers and twice with Adam Lambert alongside Gwen and others), I was simply too young to have enjoyed the group the one time they toured the US when I was but a tiny fag-ling.

I like this look on Freddie even as it makes me rather sad; I know his face was beginning to show some dissipation (not nearly as much as it would later) and the beard was likely an attempt to appear hale while hiding some of the effects of the virus.

Before Freddie died, he used every last ounce of strength to record tons of vocal tracks for posthumous releases, including the enitre “Made in Heaven” album.

This was the final song he recorded. It is bittersweet . . .

and makes me kinda teary.

The song above makes for nice bookends when taken with this earlier solo track by Mr. Fahrenheit:
