Here’s how to make tasty oatmeal, the non-instant type, that sticks to your ribs while providing a healthy serving of dietary fiber. Even groovy, hippy poets who live in the desert and cook on hotplates can manage this savory, filling breakfast! Don’t share with your doggos if you include the raisins — these are not good for puppers. Try some of the other suggestions (*) below, instead.
Prepared oatmeal keeps very well overnight in the refrigerator. Just add a little milk or water and re-warm on very low heat while stirring.
The heat of summer is often a great time to make cool muesli instead of steamy oatmeal. Substitute milk for water, mixing everything together with oats the night before and refrigerate the mixture in an air-tight container (even a thermos) overnight. Breakfast is ready when you wake up in the morning, just stir and enjoy! This muesli method of preparing oats is purported to bestow additional health benefits.
